Trends and Best Practices in Lean Innovation

Dr Myrna Flores has over 20 years of experiences in innovation and research and is the co-founder and president of Lean Analytics Association (LAA). To kick-off her presentation, Dr Flores briefly presented the LAA. Before diving into the lean innovation best practices Dr Flores overviewed the Lean Product Development Best Practices Discovery Project, and how LAA collaborates with different world-leading organizations that are already using lean thinking in product development and innovation. The deep dive into different practices was structured around four building blocks of the lean innovation model:

  • Strategy and Performance
  • Skilled People and Collaboration
  • Efficient Process and Knowledge-Based Environment
  • Continuous Improvement and Change

For each building block, one best practice that was observed in most companies, and one practice that is emerging and was obeserved only in few companies, was described and presented.

The presentation concluded with an gamified example of one of the best practices, the purpose of which is to demonstrate the benefits of lean practice in an easy to understand and rapid way in order to allign and achieve buy-in of either top management, program managers or project teams.
