Lean Innovation Forum 2017

The year 2017 marked the first year we organized the Lean Innovation Forum outside of Switzerland – in Madrid, Spain. More precisely, in the auditorium of Toyota España. Over 70 participants from more than 40 organizations have been learning and sharing their lean innovation experiences over the three days (24-26 Oct 2017), where the first and third day held various workshops run by both practitioners and academics, and the main conferences happened on the second day.

THE FORUM

The Forum took place on 25th October 2017 in the auditorium of Toyota España where participants had the opportunity to hear 14 exciting presentations and a one hour panel discussion with 5 panelists (3 practitioners from industry and 2 academics) on the topic of ͞Lean product development impact and challenges in the automotive sector͟. Speakers that came from a variety of companies and industries, and academics from internationally recognized universities shared their success stories and trends from their lean thinking initiatives in innovation and product development.

THE WORKSHOPS

Optional workshops took place a day before and a day after the main forum. In the pre-forum workshops, participants could attend one of the six workshops, five of which were held at Toyota auditorium, and one was held at the Telefónica headquarters. There was one post-forum workshop held in the innovation hub of Airbus Defence & Space which included a gemba walk through the manufacturing facilities of their Getafe plant. Each workshop was focused towards a specific topic within lean innovation environment and run by an experienced practitioner or leading academic
