LAA: What we do?

laa-blog-laa-what-we-do

As a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, LAA aims to conduct cutting-edge research to discover the trends, challenges, and business impact when organizations implement lean thinking in the innovation process. We believe our research can raise the awareness and inspire practitioners around the world to start or refresh their ongoing lean journey to become better, faster and more customer-centric through the implementation of lean innovation best practices.

We work hard to  discover, analyze, document, publish and diffuse the trends and best practices from companies that are implementing lean thinking in the innovation process. These latter research outcomes have also been the basis for the creation of different training modules to develop talent in organizations interested in starting or reviving their lean journey with the latest lean tools and methods.  We deliver our trainings courses using gamification in order to maximize the learning outcomes and participants engagement. Continue reading to find out how we are achieving our mission, and collaborating with practitioners through different services that will enable them successfully navigate through their lean innovation journeys.

When Lean Analytics Association (LAA) was launched in 2012, it offered three key services to the market:

  1. SMART Maturity Assessment for Lean Product Development
  2. Collaborative projects with industry to advance specific lean product development fields
  3. Networking opportunities for lean product development experts and practitioners enabled through the organization of a yearly conference

Since then, LAA has diversified its offer which now includes the following seven services:

LEAN INNOVATION COMMUNITY

The Lean Innovation Community is a community dedicated to forward-thinking people and businesses with a desire to connect, grow and improve trough application and exploration of lean innovation and product development practices. Joining the community enables you to tap into the world of open knowledge exchange, connecting with lean practitioners, experts and professionals that share the same passion for innovation and improvement as you do, and much more. But the Lean Innovation Community is not your average community where members do not interact; quite the contrary, the Lean Innovation Community invites and encourages its members to initiate new discussions and actively participate in existing ones, to share their knowledge, experience, and challenges with others by co-authoring a blog or hosting a Webinar, to attend our industrial events and trainings, and more.

Find out what benefits Lean Innovation Community has to offer for you, and how can you join here.

LEAN INNOVATION EVENTS
Since 2013 we organize the Lean Innovation Forum, which each year brings together more than 50 lean experts, practitioners, and companies from a variety of industrial sectors and from different continents.

The Lean Innovation Forum aims to become the single biggest annual lean innovation event for practitioners, experts, and people/organizations striving to become better, faster and more user-centric by enabling you to:

  • Share and exchange knowledge and experiences, and discuss the latest trends in Lean Thinking for Innovation
  • Learn from the best lean practitioners, organizations, experts and researchers

LEAN INNOVATION TRAININGS

At LAA, we are aware that it can be challenging for busy organizations to develop new training to keep up with the rapid advancements of innovation approaches, lean tools and techniques, and improvement methodologies.

Most of our training courses use innovative teaching techniques and are designed in a way to encourage interaction, promote experience and make learning fun, memorable and effective. Each course is designed to maximize the learning out-takes and can be adapted to any company’s specific needs.

As part of the LAA’s mission to learn, we have developed a portfolio of training courses consisting of different modules ranging from basics such as the Introduction to Lean Product Development to more advanced courses such as Set-Based Integrated Innovation and Design Thinking.

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECTS
Since the launch of the LAA, we are actively engaging organizations around the world in different action research projects, with the purpose to support the improvement initiatives of participating organizations, and to provide fresh insights to the global community of lean innovation practitioners and experts.

Over the last three years, our most prominent project, called Best Practices Discovery Project, has been targeting to identify, categorize, document and share the lean product development best practices from leading innovative companies from different industrial sectors. The best practices are shared at our annual Lean Innovation Forum, and published in a book, that is available to the public.

The Webinars are run by experienced lean practitioners and experts, but all facilitated by our team. Webinars are ranging from basic, but crucial, topics about lean innovation, to deep-dive into more specific topics, and to lean coffee debates, aiming to engage interesting discussions and solve a challenge or two.
