WHAT IS A HACKATHON?

Hackathon is a co-creation event designed to engage diverse mindsets to tackle complex challenges. Participants are working in teams with diverse skillsets and experiences, developing lots of ideas, building prototypes, testing them and create new solutions and business opportunities! All this in a single day!

THE CHALLENGE

One of the most relevant topic nowadays is Digital Transformation. Many organizations are aware or have heard about it, nevertheless, as mentioned before, over three-quarters of companies across the world are lacking the right talent and skills to embrace and leverage this change. Therefore, the challenge selected for this hackathon aims to answer the following question:

How might we help companies to bridge the digital challenge gap?

HOW DOES A HACKATHON WORK?

MeXXico Hack - How it works

At the hackathon teams collaboratively deep-dive into the “Mind the Digital Talent Gap” challenge, starting by building the understanding of the end-users, their needs, desires and pain points. Using this freshly obtained knowledge, teams will deep-dive into the challenge in order to determine the core problem. Participants will describe this problem using a problem statement, which then becomes a statement that the teams will address throughout the rest of the hackathon. After understanding the problem, participants then engage in relentless brainstorming to answer the problem statement by generating as many ideas as possible. After careful evaluation, the best ideas are merged and selected and their prototypes are built. With the prototypes build, teams are ready to prepare for their pitch, which is then delivered to the selected international jury and other participants. Best ideas and teams are awarded and crowned as the hackathon winners.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND THE HACKATHON?

The story of the hackathon does not end with the awards ceremony. Each and every participant will gain the following benefits:

  1. A fresh view on how the digital talent gap can be reduced or eliminated
  2. Learn and use the design thinking process, tools and methods
  3. Collaboratively build the solution to solve a relevant challenge in just one day
  4. Gain experience of participating in a hackathon
  5. Build new relationships that stretch beyond business

WHAT IS THE AWARD FOR THE WINNING TEAM?
