LAA-Blog---Lean-PD-Book

The Lean Analytics Association team is excited to announce the publication of its first book, Lean Product Development Best Practices, a result of a one-year collaborative project carried out with the participation of 10 innovative companies which have obtained a variety of business benefits by implementing lean thinking in product development.

This book includes ten industrial cases which describe in detail the efforts each company had to undertake to successfully embed lean principles, tools and techniques in its product development and innovation processes. This book was designed around the lean principle “visual communication”, including over 250 colorful illustrations, tables, artworks and photos of actual tools and techniques used in these 10 companies. If you are involved in or eager to find out more about the practical application of lean thinking in innovation and product development, then this book is the perfect choice for you as it provides over 40 different best practices from successful lean practitioners with years of hands-on experience.

Launching the Best Practices Discovery Project 2017

Since 2015, the Lean Analytics Association and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) from Lausanne, Switzerland, have been running the Lean Product Development Best Practices Discovery Project (BPDP). We launched this research project as a response to the lack of successful industrial cases of lean thinking implementation and application in product development. Therefore, the main goal of the BPDP is to discover, document and disseminate the lean product development best practices of the most innovative companies from around the world to inspire others to start their lean journey! Fifteen companies have already shared their best practices in the two previous projects. And guess what? We are currently looking for companies interested to participate in the Best Practices Discovery Project 2017. Continue reading to find out what is in it for you and how you can join the project.

Lean Product Development Survey

In parallel to the Lean Product Development Best Practices Discovery Project, we are launching the Lean Product Development Worldwide Survey, to identify trends, good practices, challenges and future opportunities practitioners have been facing during their Lean Product Development journey. Lean product development/innovation practitioners participating in the survey will receive a free copy of the final report. This global survey is open until January 31st, 2017. Don’t miss this great opportunity!

MeleOKTelefónica, one of the world’s leading telecommunication services providers, is a pioneer in applying Lean Startup methodology to speed the innovation outputs as a large organization. In 2011, Telefónica began to position itself as a digital telecommunications company and started to build digital products. Since then, Telefónica has followed the Lean Startup methodology and has significantly reduced cycle times and development costs, while ensuring developers are continuously interacting with the end customers during the development. All these changes have led to a significant cultural transformation within the company which encourages customers’ integration from the early development stage and nurture their employees’ talent to become intrapreneurs.
